Isaiah 40:30-31 “Even the youths grow tired and weary…Hope in the Lord and RENEW your strength…Soar on wings like eagles…Run and no grow weary, walk and not faint.”
How wonderful it has been in the last few nights to hear the sound of rain falling on the roof as we drift into the realm of sleep. So relaxing and soothing – particularly on a metal roof. We haven’t seen much rain in recent months in the Redlands but the dry reality left in the wake of our current weather pattern.
Praise God that the rain is now bringing nourishment not only here but also throughout western Queensland. It won’t take long before we see the dry, brown grass transformed into a beautiful array of colour and splendour right across the state. Such a natural renewal is simple and definite when water is included in the equation.
So too, when the Christian is experiencing a dry and weary spell. We all relate to that “wilderness” experience and the pain that it brings while we are in the middle of it. You pray but the clouds of blessings seem empty. There is one certainty - the rains will come to bring nourishment upon your life.
As plants in a drought produce seeds so they can reproduce as part of their “self preservation” mechanism, we too can produce spiritual seeds in our time of dryness. In other words, don’t give up but tarry in the dry times. The blessings of strengthening yourself will come as you continue to walk with the Lord, read His Word and fellowship with the family of God.
Continue to seek the Lord with all your heart and live in His realm with great wisdom. Every Christian experiences the dry, hash reality of life, but only those whose hope remains in the Lord will be renewed.
