Wise Men Still Seek Him

So much is wonderful and exciting at this time of the year. The weather is warm, the beaches are attractive. Families gather together maybe in some cases, for the only time of the year. The sense of expectation fills the air. Children who can’t wait for that special day to arrive.

On the other hand, there are presents to buy. Food to cook. Parties to organise. People to please. Bills to pay. And the list goes on and on.

Every year we have the opportunity to really enjoy the Christmas season with family and with the church...but it is up to us how much we really enjoy it all.

It’s so easy to become overwhelmed with the plans, the jobs and deadlines that we allow the special moments to pass us by. Moments that can be stored in our memories for a lifetime. In the midst of the hassle & bustle, take time to take stock and wait, pondering on the good things of our God. Remember, even Jesus had to stop following great acts of power, and simply go alone to spend time with His Father.

I remember seeing a bumper sticker which read, “WISE MEN STILL SEEK HIM”. Sometimes it’s wise to be busy, making plans and working in God’s calling on our lives. But other times, it’s wise to stop and rest.

This Christmas, stop and rest. Psalm 37:7 “Be patient and wait for the LORD to act; don't be worried about those who prosper or those who succeed in their evil plans”.

Have an awesome Christmas. God bless you.

Your pastor, Daren.
