Who Do You Call?

Psalm 130:1-2 “From the depths of despair, O Lord, I call for Your help. Hear my cry, O Lord. Pay attention to my prayer.” NLT

The depths of despair. I hasten to say that almost everyone has descended to such depths more than once, and it’s a horrible experience.

Many issues of life take us to such places we prefer to stay away from such as loss of a loved one, becoming unemployed, divorce, financial stress, relationship breakdown and the list literally goes on and on.

What do we do when we find ourselves in the well of despair? Who do we turn too?

The One who has all the answers of course! Who else? Maybe not all the time? A good test of who we run to is found in our initial reaction. Is it frustration, anger, bewilderment or anxiety? Or is it prayer to the Almighty God?

The writer of the above Psalm cried out in his time of deep despair. He called for God’s help. Not the bank manager or the local GP. The Bible says that help comes in the Name of the Lord.

Next time despair knocks on your door, determine now who you will call. I pray that you will call on the Lord.

God bless you,

Love from your pastor, Daren.
