During his years as premier of the Soviet Union, Nikita Khrushchev denounced many of the polices and atrocities of Joseph Stalin. Once, as he censured Stalin in a public meeting, Khrushchev was interrupted by a shout from a heckler in the audience.
“You were one of Stalin’s colleagues. Why didn’t you stop him?” “Who said that?” roared Khrushchev. An agonizing silence followed as nobody in the room dared to move a muscle. Then Khrushchev replied quietly, “Now you now why.”
Joshua 1:6 "Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them.”
Speaking to this new leader of Israel, God warned Joshua that he would face many difficulties and hardships. If issues were left unaddressed, the nation of Israel would face certain defeat at the hands of the numerous enemies that surrounded them. “Be strong & courageous” were the words that must have rung in the mind of this powerful military leader each time he faced his next battle.
Throughout our life, we will face issues & difficulties that must be dealt with head on. Do you have the courage to stand up and be counted? Does your lifestyle reflect the true nature of Jesus to those around you? Do your words and lifestyle measure up? Australia needs courageous Christians. Righteousness exalts a nation. Walk in that courage of the Lord today.
