How Do You Respond to a Cave-in?

Do you find it hard to sing praises to the Lord when your world is caving in around you? You are not alone.

Think for a moment about the two Beaconsfield miners. Almost 1 km below the surface in pitch darkness, no contact with the outside world and no way of knowing whether they were ever going to return to the surface alive. That is a great example of someone’s world caving in. Did they have any control over the final outcome? Did they have any power as to when they would be freed—if at all? Of course not! All they could do was sit and wait.

As Christians, we have a far greater resource to draw from. Acts 16 records how Paul & Silas were thrown into jail and their attitude to their imprisonment. Acts16:25 “Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns of praise to God. The other prisoners were listening to them.”

2 things here. 1. They learned how to have an attitude of praise to God in all circumstances and 2. They knew they were on show.

As Christians, we are on show to the world whether we like it or not. When our worlds cave in, be very careful how you respond. Do you give in to a fit of rage or negative thinking or sing songs of praise? Remember, others are watching and listening!

God bless you. Love from your pastor, Daren.
