Have you heard about the Chinese bamboo tree? The Chinese plant the seed; they water & fertilise it, but the first year, nothing happens. The second year they water & fertilise it & still nothing happens. The third & forth years they water & fertilise it nothing happens. Then the fifth year they water & fertilise it & something during the course of the fifth year, in a period of approximately six weeks, the Chinese bamboo tree grows roughly ninety feet.
The question is: Did it grow ninety feet in six weeks or did it grow ninety feet in five years? The obvious answer is that it grow ninety feet in five years, because had they not applied the water & fertiliser each year, there would have been no Chinese bamboo tree.
All of us can have the Chinese bamboo tree experience. We see people rising to recognition or success seemly overnight. But did you know them when for the years they were quietly toiling, training, leading a disciplined life, praying, studying???
It is easier to resent the successful people than to live a long-term disciplined life.
If you desire to be successful in any particular call on your life, do the following:
1. Become a hard-working disciplined Christian
2. Become patient because your day is coming.
