Many people will come across your path with “great plans” for your life. They will attempt to speak into your life without you giving them the permission to do so. For example, as the pastor of this wonderful congregation, many over the years have tried to be my mentor offering many differing “wise” solutions to problems or issues.
Even though most provide their advise with good intentions, I will lead the way I believe the Holy Spirit is leading me, not via any self-appointed “mentors”!
Be careful who you allow to speak into your life.
- Make sure they have your best interests at heart
- Make sure they have a great relationship with God
- Make sure they have no hidden agenda
- Make sure they don’t speak out of a bitter well
- Make sure you trust them with your private information
I don’t want you to become paranoid about anyone who shows an interest in your well-being, “but be on the guard for your enemy, the devil prowls about like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8
Work out your agenda with God. “Work out your salvation with fear & trembling.” No one else can! Seek advise only from wise, Godly people
