Do you appreciate her? Do you fully understand what she has gone through for you?
She went through sleepless nights while pregnant suffering from discomfort and personal body changes. Watching her body being stretched out of proportion to fit you in. Giving birth to you in the sight of doctors and midwives with no time for modesty. Enduring the pain in order to see your face and cradle you in her arms.
That’s just the beginning.
Sleepless nights feeding, changing nappies, preparing bottles, cleaning messes, comforting you when you suffered wind pains.
As you grew she went though sleepless nights as you teethed. Clothed you, fed you, loved you, worked tirelessly in the kitchen cooking and darning socks.
Time passes as you went to school and couldn’t understand why you couldn’t read after your first day! She suffered sleepless nights helping you with homework. Talking about the opposite gender explaining that ‘girls germs’ aren’t really harmful. Listening to you as you crammed for your senior studies. She wrapped her arms around you in comfort when you were disappointed by your results. She kissed your forehead to get your temperature when you felt ‘off colour’.
You finished school and got a job and a driver’s licence. She spent sleepless nights waiting quietly for the front door to open knowing you were home safely. She listened to your tales of woe as you broke up with your girlfriend. She sat beside you and offered a shoulder to cry on.
She cried as she witnessed you exchange vows with your life-long spouse. She cuddled your children and treated them to the same tender love you experienced years earlier.
My question...Do you appreciate her? Do you fully understand what she has gone through for you?
Someone else had a sleepless night—the night He was betrayed. (Read Matthew 26:36-46) He went through a torrid, horrific time for you so that you may enjoy life to the full and unity with the Father forever. My question...Do you appreciate Him? Do you fully understand what He has gone through for you?
Happy Mother’s Day ladies. God bless you awesome people. Daren.
