Last Tuesday at Life Group, I promised to find the verse stating that God will bring to completion that which He begins in our life. Here it is...
- Philippians 1:6 ‘And so I am sure that God, who began this good work in you, will carry it on until it is finished on the Day of Christ Jesus.’
When God calls us and places His mark on us and releases us for His work, know this for sure, He doesn’t leave loose ends. In fact, He completes everything that He starts in your life.
You might ask, What about the backsliders and those who willfully reject God after they made a commitment to Him? Well the Bible is very clear that we must obey and walk in full submission to the leading of the Holy Spirit in order to be brought to completion. Do you want to be brought to completion through the powerful work of the Holy Spirit?
Look back at the promises that God gave you when you first repented and followed Him. Those promises are still relevant today even if you haven’t yet seen the fruit. Remember to remain in submission to Him as the Bible (1 Samuel 15:23) tells us that Rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.
Here is further evidence that God completes all that He sets out to accomplish.
- John 19:30 ‘After Jesus had taken the vinegar, he said, "It is finished!" Then he bowed his head and died.’
In total submission to His Father, (Philippians 2) Jesus went all the way to the cross. He suffered the horror of pain, of all sin and all shame. He could have stepped from the cross or called on a legion of angels at any time but He chose to complete the work of salvation.
As we celebrate Easter this year, remember the amazing sacrifice Jesus suffered for you and me. Through the completed work of Christ, we are now made complete in Christ. Praise His wonderful and glorious Name!
