Happy Australia Day for the 26th, January. We live in a great nation surrounded by natural beauty and wonder. We have a stable government system, welfare and corporate sectors. Our climate is awesome and the freedom we enjoy as Australian citizens is quite unique. ‘However’ always follows such praise.
However, let’s be careful not to exchange our glorious freedoms for humanistic values that taint the power of the Gospel rendering it powerless to change lives and transform our sinful natures into Jesus’ glorious nature.
With freedoms comes responsibilities. In order to continue to enjoy Australia as we currently do, we must hold fast to the living, breathing and life-revolutionising Word of God in its entirety. The church is God’s representation on this planet. We must remain faithful to God’s Word and walk by faith in every freedom-giving principle carefully outlined in the Bible.
The Bible tells us that we are in a land we are passing through. In fact, 2 Corinthians 5:20 says, “We are Christ’s ambassadors, and God is using us to speak to you. We urge you as though Christ Himself were here pleading with you, ‘Be reconciled to God!’
What an awesome responsibility. We carry the Name of our Lord on us as ambassadors. We can share the Gospel of Jesus with others around us lead them to become ambassadors also. No longer are we just Australians but we are now of a different kingdom that is eternal, that offers eternal values, eternal significance and eternal citizenship. Praise be to God! Lift up the holy standards of the Word. Live as a child of the Lord. Enjoy the real peace and freedom that will never end.
