Don't Be De-Railed!

This week we learned of the news that the iconic diesel powered train, the 'Sunlander' was de-railed in the small North Queenland town of Innisfail. Sadly one man, the father of 2 lost his life. He was driving his dump truck and crossing the track, the train slammed into him causing the train to leap off the rails. This is a tragedy that could have been avoided if basic safety issues were addressed.
Many Christians live in a similar way. There are many dangers ahead and the foolish take no heed of the warning signs of derailment. Rather than choosing to stay on track, they rebelliously continue on their way of sin, only to head for destruction. You may ask why? Who knows. Maybe the lure of rebellion overrules the lure of submission to the Lord Jesus. Maybe they like to live life on the edge and fail, due to lack of wisdom, to see the pending dangers that wait to ensnare. Whatever the reason, the final result of destruction remains the same.

  • Proverbs 14:12 'There is way which seems right to a man, but the end of it is the ways of death.'

People will enter your life this year that may have a great and Godly influence but be careful also, there will be people who can have catestrophic influence enter your life. There is a saying, 'You will know the character of a man by the company they keep'. Isn't this true! Birds of a feather flock together.
Some people will be like Barnabas, the Son of Encouragement who are always enthusiastic and a blessing to have near you. They invest nuggets of gold in your life. Let them in to your life. Others however, are 'Alexander the metalworker' who are messengers of Satan. (2 Timothy 4:14) They cause you great harm and if you continue to befriend such people, can even derail your life.

Choose to read the warning signs in 2009. Choose to see the dangers ahead and avoid the derailments that can have catestrophic & even eternal consequenses. At the very least, they can slow down the pregress that you have made in God. Take this as an encouragement and a challenge.

God bless you for 2009. Happy New Year and choose to walk in the wisdom of our heavenly Father.
