“Don’t let anyone lead you astray with empty philosophy and high sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from evil powers of this world, and not from Christ.” Colossians 2:8

We might wonder why there are so many denominations in mainstream Christianity. Many differing views and biases. Almost all aspects of the Word of God has been argued passionately with the firm belief that they are correct. Then there are the cults that have far-reaching views that leave us scratching our heads wondering how they came to such conclusions.

This week, I had the pleasure of sharing my faith with an Indian workmate who has very differing views to my Christian convictions. In our hour long discussion, (after hours) I learned much about him and his beliefs. He is a young man with great knowledge and intellect. He is a man of integrity and strength. He loves cricket and a good chat. However, he struggles with any understanding of an omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent God.

His belief of evolution was raised and argued well. In the midst of this somewhat exciting discussion, I introduced Jesus.

While we were discussing philosophies and concepts, there was quarrelling but the moment we spoke of being in relationship with God through Jesus Christ, he saw what I was saying and accepted it fully.

  • “Don’t let anyone lead you astray with empty philosophy and high sounding nonsense that come from human thinking...”

Arguing worldly philosophies & world views will only separate you further from those you are desiring to lead to Jesus. You have a testimony. Share it. Share how Jesus changed your life and gave you hope and purpose. No one can argue with that. Stay clear of empty arguments. They are distracting and time-wasting. As you exalt Jesus by your words, the Holy Spirit will bring His anointing to the conversation.

When the Holy Spirit turns up, His power consumes the discussion and turns everything in favour of our God.

Stay on track, church and share the great news of Jesus.

Love, Pastor Daren
