Psalm 34:18 “The LORD is near to those whose hearts are humble. He saves those whose spirits are crushed.”
As an Omnipresent Being, our God is ever present in and through our lives. Sometimes that's difficult to comprehend when we are travelling along our journey of hardship and strife. As we witness the greatest financial downturn since the crash of 1987 and the global Federal Reserves aggressively slashing interest rates in an attempt to ease monitory policy, it's obvious that fear rules at the present time.
We are told constantly not to fear or be dismayed. Where do we place our faith? In the banks, governments, other finance institutions?
This week we also witnessed the election of the first African American president of the USA. We are certainly living in changing times. Will Barack Obama wave a magic wand and suddenly fix everything up? Of course not. In these unsure times, who do we trust?
From my view point, there is no better time to live than this present age. Placing all our faith in our Omnipresent God makes a whole lot of sence. He is near those whose hearts are humble. James 4:8 “Come close to God, and He will come close to you. Clean up your lives, you sinners, and clear your minds, you doubters.”
The key to our faith in God is a humble heart. We must come to the point in our life that we completely understand with our mind and in our spirit that we must totally surrender to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Quit trying to fix everything yourself and humble your heart to Him. He will draw near to you even when it appears that He is nowhere to be found. He will redirect your paths and transform your mind so that you will have the mind of Christ.
First thing first...Humble your heart to God now.
God bless you heaps church! Pastor Daren.
