“The oppressed look to Him and are glad; they will never be disappointed.” - Psalm 34:5
There are so many promises made to us everyday. If we brush our teeth with this particular toothpaste, our teeth get whiter. If we use this petrol additive, we'll increase our fuel economy. If we eat certain foods, we will loose weight. If we follow this formula, our sales figures will increase by 100%.
Promises, promises, promises! So many claims but so few results. If we were to cling to every claim, I would think that we would be Australia’s Biggest Looser.
We’ve all seen those ads on TV for muscle building and toning. These muscle-bound men claim to have looked like Peewee Herman before revolutionising their lives with this amazing new and state of the art muscle building system that “really works”. “And that’s not all. Want more? Call now and we’ll throw in a set of steak knives.”
There’s that old saying…”If it sound’s too good to be true, it probably is.”
However, this is not true of everything.
Do you know God, the Author of life and Creator of this universe? Do you know Him through and through? Do you experience His transforming power on a daily basis? Do you know He can change you from glory to glory?
Sounds too good to be true? The psalmist said, “The oppressed look to Him and are glad; they will never be disappointed.”
God’s not some TV ‘infomercial’ making bold and outrageous promises with no way of delivering them. In fact, every promise made by God is tested by time and eternity. As it is impossible for God to lie, every promise will be delivered if we hold up our end of the ’bargain’.
With every promise that God makes, there is a condition we must uphold. Are you prepared to live according to His promises? Are you prepared to enjoy His countless benefits? Who dares, wins. After all, even God’s free gift of salvation has a condition—we must believe in Jesus and live according to His will for our lives.
If you do hold up your end, you will NEVER be disappointed!
Come on. Believe God. Take Him at His infallible Word. Trust Him. Walk by faith.
God bless you as you extend your faith and leave this old way of the world behind.
Love, Pastor Daren
