Wholehearted Commitment

Amaziah was 25 years old when he began to rule, and he ruled for 29 years in Jerusalem. His mother was Jehoaddan from Jerusalem. He did what the Lord considered right, but he did not do it wholeheartedly.” - 2 Chronicles 25:1-2

It appears to be a contradiction of terms at first glance. “He did what the Lord considered right, but he did not do it wholeheartedly.”

So often, we can do what is right, say the right things, get involved in the church, never hurt anyone, encourage people and the list goes on. But we sometimes only do what we have too. Enough to get us over the finishing line.

In your workplace, how do you serve your boss? At school, are you doing your absolute best or are you leaving some fuel in the tank for later on? In your marriage relationship, are you totally committed to your spouse, til death do you part or are you selfishly holding back? How about your children? Are you totally committed to showing them the way of life and leading them to Jesus?

Whatever you do, do it wholeheartedly as though you were working for your real Master and not merely humans.” - Colossians 3:23

People give up on relationships, both with their spouse and God because they are no longer wholehearted.

King Amaziah didn’t serve the Lord wholeheartedly. He was double-minded. Following victory in battle against the Edomites, he served the foreign gods and the Lord became angry.

Be careful not to become careless with what God has given you. Your faith. Your family. Your church. Your God-given friends. Be wholehearted in everything you do, when you know it is from God. Above all else, allow Jesus to be your number one!

God bless you awesome church!!! Pastor Daren
