When we purchase anything of value, we expect it to last the distance.
A three-watt bulb has been burning in a northern California fire station for eighty-five years. General Electric would like to examine it to make sure they never make that same mistake again.
Everything we own has a “used by” date on it. Our shoes wear out. Our toothpaste empties. Our petrol tanks run dry. Our panty needs to be topped up weekly and the list goes on. When we go to the supermarket, we must diligently search for the “Best By” date to ensure we get the best value from our purchase prior to using it.
Even though we live in a throw away, disposable society, doesn’t mean we need to conform to that humanistic philosophy. Marriages aren’t viewed as life-long even by some Christians. Christians find it difficult to hang in when the time gets tough. Ministries are commenced but left on the shelf when the interest fades.
Christians must be, by default, the most committed people on the face of this planet. We serve an awesome God who committed His Son to us...completely.
Let’s run the race and win the prize.
Hebrews 12:1 “Since we are surrounded by so many examples of faith, we must get rid of everything that slows us down, especially sin that distracts us. We must run the race that lies ahead of us and never give up.”
Let’s last the distance and show the world that longevity is alive and active at Southern Bay Church.
God bless you serve for the Long Haul... Pastor Daren
