In so many ways, we have what we have due to the priority we place on aspects of our lives that either punish us or reward us.
Strange statement I know. Let me explain.
If we drink in excess, we get drunk. If we speed, we’ll at least get caught with a ticket or much worse. If we eat too much of the wrong food, we’ll get fat. If we become slack in our job, we probably deserve to be sacked.
It’s no different with our walk with God.
If we read the Word, pray (corporately and privately), live according to the rules for Godly living (such as Colossians 3, Galatians 5, 1 Timothy, Titus & many other passages), we know that we will be living power houses for God!
Why don’t we do it? Why are there so many powerless Christians on planet earth? Priority. Yep, priority.
Sounds simplistic and a little idealistic? Well not really. Check this out…
James 4:8, “Draw near to God & He will draw near to you. Cleans your hands, sinners and purify your hearts, double-minded ones.” (MKJV)
There are certain things that attract God’s attention and this is one. Draw close to God. “But there is too much happening in my life. You don’t understand… I’m too busy” blah, blah, blah. Honestly, if we hunger for God enough, He will be our driving force. But it’s a matter of priority. We allow so much to get in the way of God that it, by default, becomes a mini god because it pushes God away.
This is a challenge to set ourselves aside for God by developing Godly priorities in our lives. What’s your number 1? You’ll know it by what takes up most of your time, money and resources.
God bless you church. I love you so much. Ps Daren.
