A small boy invaded the lingerie section of a large department store and shyly presented his problem to a woman sales assistant, “I want to buy a slip as a present for my mum,” he said, “But I don’t know what size she wears”.
Is she tall or short, fat or skinny?” asked the assistant. “She’s just perfect,” beamed the little boy. So the sales assistant wrapped up a size 8 for him.
Two days later, mum came to the store by herself and exchanged the slip for a size 26.
Is it safe to judge the quality of your mother by the size of her clothes, the colour of her eyes, the level of education she gained or any other of these shallow judgement criteria's? Great news for us all...NO!
You don’t have to look long in the mirror to recognise areas of your life that you don’t particularly like.
My paraphrased version of Martin Luther King’s speech…”We are not judged by the colour of our skin but by the content of our character.”
Your mum helped shape who you are today. They are one of the most influential persons in your life.
A London editor submitted to Winston Churchill for his approval a list of all those who had been Churchill’s teachers. Churchill returned the list with the comment: “You omitted the greatest of my teachers—my mother”.
Today is Mother’s Day. Honour her. Honour your wife fellas. Give them a gift of appreciation. Call your mum and let her know that you truly love her. They are really a gift to you from God. She is just perfect!
Happy Mother’s Day. Your Pastor—Daren.
