Every sound-minded person enjoys true freedom. We may differ on our interpretation of this freedom but we all strive for it.
A general of the Persian army always gave his condemned prisoners a choice, the firing squad or the black door. Most chose the firing squad. The prisoners were never told what was on the other side of the black door. Few ever chose the unknown of the black door. When asked what was on the other side of the black door, the general answered, “Freedom, and I’ve known only a few men brave enough to take it.”
We can crave freedom and talk about it but even Christians enjoy their imprisonment more than stepping into the unknown of true freedom. Imprisonment comes in many forms such as:
- Feelings of self pity
- Addictions of all kinds
- Self abasement
- Fears and phobias of all kinds
- Guilt and self condemnation
- Worry
This short list connects with a list of issues longer than a toilet paper roll that imprison even Christians everywhere. But we must rise above all this. If we really know, understand & live in the power of the cross, we will find freedom. The Word of God promises it!
If you are living in a prison now, do as the general said, be brave enough to enter the unknown. Dislike captivity and throw yourself into the strong arms of your Saviour. The 1st step is stop feeling sorry for yourself. 2nd Take God’s Word & what He says about you seriously & 3rd Train your mind to think with an attitude that comes from God. But this time...DO IT!
Come on! Live in freedom! God bless you...Pastor Daren
