A New Year comes and goes with the promise of new beginnings and promises to pin our hopes upon. The 31st December is here tomorrow and we all wait for the clock to tick over to 12 midnight. The fireworks explode in an array of colour, splendour and loud noise to herald in 2008.
In the midst of celebration and fanfare, remember to get your house in order to give yourself the best chance possible for this new year.
1. Leave your regrets behind. Reggie Dabbs is renowned for his saying, “There’s nothing you can do about your past, but there’s a whole lot you an do about your future.” This leads me to the next point…
2. Look to a Brighter Future. What point is there in entering a new year as a pessimist? It takes more muscles to frown than it does to smile. Anticipate the best from God. His plan for you is huge. Just walk His ways. Jeremiah 29:11
3. Position yourself for God’s blessing. If you only eat Big Mac’s you’ll look like a sesame seed bun with cheese. Participate in activities that will enhance rather than hinder your relationship with Jesus and with others. Proverbs 23:7b says “What he thinks is what he really is.”
4. Place all your trust in the Lord. Easier said than done I guess but what’s the alternative? Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know.”
Invest into your church this year. Invest your time, energy, excitement, desire to bless and a willingness to see God do amazing things in & through you at Southern Bay. I’m excited!
God bless you as you await 2008. Your Pastor...Daren
